CLASS INFORMATION

Track 1 – HAZ MAT OPERATIONS LEVEL RESPONDER:

Instructor:     Carry Munro – Haz Mat Technician – Umatilla County Fire District #1

This class will cover detecting hazardous materials, identification and hazard assessment, surveying the haz mat incident, protective clothing and equipment, haz mat control, field decontamination, and safety at haz mat incidents. The class meets the DPSST and OR-OSHA haz mat requirements for first responders.

Track 2 – NFPA INSTRUCTOR I (Web-Based Version) (Registration Cut-Off Date is March 25, 2018):

            Instructor:  David Jensen – Northeast Regional Fire Training Coordinator – DPSST

This class meets the requirements of NFPA Instructor I. Completion of a Task Book is required for DPSST certification. There is pre-class work to be completed by the students before class begins. Students will be sent the log-in information for the Jones & Bartlett website soon after the cut-off date for registration. You will need to have completed the Jones & Bartlett pre-course work by April 10th. Students not completing the pre-course work will not be allowed to participate in class. Class size is limited to ten.

Track 3 – I-300 Intermediate ICS:

            Instructor:     Jim Whelan – Training Chief – Umatilla County Fire District #1

All mid-level management personnel should take ICS-300, including: Persons serving as command staff, section chiefs, strike team leaders, task force leaders, unit leaders, division/group supervisors, branch directors, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center staff.

Track 4 – Engine Company Operations):

            Instructor:     Corey Gorham – Battalion Chief – Umatilla County Fire District #1

This class will be hands-on (there may be a little classroom time) to improve your skill sets as a firefighter. Topics covered may include, but not be limited to hose handling, forcible entry, ladders and search & rescue.
